Bear Scout
Bear Scouts have four general achievement groups: Faith, Country, Family, and Self. This is the year your scout will grow in amazing ways.
To become a Bear Cub Scout, your child must be in third grade.
After your Cub Scout has earned his Bobcat badge, he may start along the trail to Bear. This is a big adventure for your child, one that the Boy Scouts of America hopes all children will complete.
The Bear trail is a long journey and has 24 achievements, 12 of which your child must complete to earn their Bear badge.
The trail to the Bear badge is broken down into 4 groups which are:
-
Faith
-
Country
-
Family
-
Self
Once your child has completed their 12 achievements, they will advance in rank and receive their Bear badge at the Pack advancement ceremony.
During their time as a Bear, your scout may also work on a wide array of Belt Loops and pins, which are awarded at the monthly Pack Meeting.
The Bear program relies heavily on family involvement, but you will see this gradually change with the scout having a more individual direction as he graduates to Webelos.
